For instance, in a study conducted by Albert Mehrabian, professor emeritus of psychology at UCLA, only about 7% of what people absorb in a conversation comes from the words used in face-to-face interactions. Tone of voice weighs in at 38%, while facial expressions command an overwhelming edge at 55%.
